NCMC Offers Student Scholarships to Attend Annual Conference

NCMC is now accepting applications for scholarships that will support four students attending the annual conference, to be held March 18-19, 2011 in Asheville.  The Student Memorial Award honors deceased members of the North Carolina Museums Council.  Additional awards are supported by NCMC and a generous anonymous donor.

Recipients receive free conference registration and $125 for travel and lodging expenses.  They will be recognized during the conference awards ceremony and will receive a one-year student membership in NCMC.  The Student Memorial Award winner will be invited to participate in future activities of the Student Affairs Committee.

The award is open to currently enrolled graduate and undergraduate students interested in museum careers.  To apply, submit the following:

  • a cover letter explaining your interest in attending the conference, how attending
    may support future aspirations and interests, and how your background and training has prepared you to take advantage of the opportunity;
  • a resume (no more than 2 pages);
  • and a letter of reference from a professor or employer, sent by the reference directly to NCMC.
