Wow, what a conference!
A resounding thank you and job well done to the local arrangements committee and to all of the vendors and sponsors that helped make Hickory such a memorable place for our annual conference.
“Museums: Makers of Meaning” was a perfectly titled theme to this year’s conference as each attendee had opportunities to make meaningful connections with their peers and colleagues either through the break out trips, the conference sessions, or even in the evening executive sessions in the hospitality suite.
NCMC is THE statewide organization for museum professionals and through the involvement of museums professionals and their institutions we impact citizen’s lives through our facilities, programs, collections, and our outreach efforts.
Of course I am honored and humbled that you have entrusted me to be your president for the next two years and know that together we can do great things for our profession as well as for the patrons that attend our institutions.
Please know that your elected board on Council will continue to work to create opportunities to improve professional practices across the state, to foster welcoming environments in our communities that encourage museum development, and to always remain eager to hear any suggestions you may have for how we can make NCMC more relevant to you.
Thanks again to all involved in the 2007 NCMC conference in Hickory including the planners and organizers of the conference, those who moderated or spoke at a session, volunteers who kept the activities running smoothly, vendors and sponsors who underwrote activities, and finally to everyone that was able to attend.
If you were not able to be in Hickory this year, please make plans now to attend the 2008 NCMC Annual Conference when we will be in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The conference will once again be a great opportunity for professional development, networking with friends and colleagues, and a chance to have a good time with museum professionals.
