EXPAND YOUR HORIZONS.Become a part of the organization that has promoted excellence in North Carolina’s museum community for more than 40 years: the North Carolina Museum Council. NCMC is a non-profit organization of museums and individuals interested in the advancement of North Carolina museums and the museum profession. In addition to museums, NCMC serves visual art centers, zoos, aquariums, historic houses, planetariums, educational forests, and science centers. Any individual or institution interested in the museum field, including students and professionals, is eligible to join NCMC regardless of professional position, field of study, or residence. (For the NCMC president's comments on why membership helps us all, visit here.).
Membership in NCMC includes membership in one of four sections: art, history, science, or children's. Each section meets during the annual conference to discuss specific concerns and issues. Section members nominate and elect a representative to serve on NCMC’s board of directors and assist in planning council meetings.
The NCMC newsletter is created and posted quarterly on this web site. The newsletter includes news from museums across North Carolina, conference and workshop schedules, summaries of national and regional meetings, updates on state and national legislation, and notices of surplus museum supplies and sought-after objects.Individuals on our opt-in news e-mailing list are alerted as each newsletter is posted on ths site.
