The Southeastern Museums Conference (SEMC) will continue Jekyll Island Management Institute (JIMI) in January 2025. The NC Museums Council proudly supports this valuable professional development opportunity by providing one $850 tuition scholarship to attend the Institute each year.
JIMI, a program created by the Southeastern Museums Conference (SEMC), is specifically designed for administrators from new and emerging museums and for museum professionals with subject area expertise desiring knowledge of general museum administration and operations.
Situated on historic Jekyll Island, GA, this highly successful training program provides an eight-day immersion for museum professionals seeking the opportunity to learn management, personnel and interpretive skills from leading experts.
Sessions include management styles, administration and trusteeship, financial management and fundraising, public relations and marketing, working with consultants, disaster preparedness, volunteer recruitment and management, exhibition planning and interpretation management, current trends and professional ethics.
The scholarship application is available as a PDF and can also be found on SEMC's JIMI webpage.
Be sure to provide detail in your application about your museum, your own qualifications, and why you would be a qualified recipient for the NCMC JIMI Tuition Scholarship.
